The boys track and field team had a great weekend
at the state meet in Des Moines. The team finished
4th overall after spending about half the meet in
first place. Leading the way was state champion
long jumper Derek Jacobus. He became state champ
with a jump of 22’10.25 inches. Famiek Cook
finished third in the same event. Willie Rhoads
placed third in the high jump and Drew Heitland
placed eighth in the shot put. On the track the
shuttle hurdle team of Tommy Kaiser, Jacobus,
Marcus Perkins and Cook place second. The 4 x 200
relay team of John Koelling, Cook, Jacob Shannon
and Jacobus were also state runner-ups. John
Koellind placed 3rd in the 400m dash and finished
4th in the 200m dash. Also scoring points and
collecting a medal was Tommy Kaiser in the 110 high
hurdles. It was a banner year for the Cougar Boys
track team.
The electric car team competed in Michigan over the
weekend against the best teams in the country. As
a team we finished 3rd. As individual cars the 40
car with Brandon Reynolds, Roxanne Mendoza, and
Kait Gibbs finished 4th, the 30 car with Justin
Krieg and Jenna Hendrickson finished 5th, and the
50 car with Wyatt Hawkins and Chris Hoffman
finished 6th.

for our final college athlete reception. The

their decision to continue their athletic careers
at the college level:

drum major – clinics start today after school.

Seniors: - If you did not receive certificates
and/or medals from Senior Recognition, you have
until next Wed. to pick those up in the main
office. Don’t wait until graduation and be in a
panic about not having your medals to wear!
Attention Seniors:
Please complete a Final Transcript request form
with your intentions for next year. If you have
questions stop by the counseling office and ask.
There is a list of students posted outside the
counseling door who have not done this.
SENIOR NOTICE:
Please check the listing outside the bookkeeper’s
office of near the senior bench to see if you have
any school fees due. ALL required school fees
should be paid in full prior to graduation. If your
name is on the list and you would like to know what
it is for, see Mrs. Cory.
Seniors: all library books for seniors are due
TODAY. Please return your books and pay your fines
ASAP.
If you are going to be a senior next year and would
like the opportunity to take Government 1 this
summer, registration forms are now available in the
guidance office. Cost is $100. Spots are limited
and will be assigned on a first come basis. The
course will run June 3 through July 12. Pick up
your registration form in the guidance office if
you are interested.
Summer school registration forms are now available
in the Guidance Office. Summer school will be held
June 10-28 at Kennedy. If you are an incoming
junior or senior next year and need to make up a
required course for graduation, you should strongly
consider enrolling in summer school. Summer school
details and registration forms can be picked up in
the guidance office.
